Shirley J. Massey

Shirley J. Massey, 87, of Kewanee, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Allure of Geneseo. Shirley was born December 6, 1937, in Kewanee, the daughter of Ralph E. Hartshorn and Viriginia A. (Morrison) Burwell. She married Billy Joe Massey and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2006.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Julie Chamberlain and Norma Massey; two sons, Bob Huggins and Mike Massey; sister, Patti Dolieslager; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends and caregivers, Mike and Melodee Yaklich. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Massey; sisters, Kathi Fulkerson and Sena Marie; and a brother, Joe Hartshorn.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle heart and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her. She had a gift for making others feel at home. She loved cooking hearty, homemade meals from scratch, had a lifelong affection for cats, and found joy and strength in her faith and church community. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and kindness.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Pleasant View Cemetery. Pastor Randy Hrozienick will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left for Shirley's family and friends at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
