Shirley A. Petty

Shirley A. Petty, 84, of rural Toulon, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her son's home in Kewanee. Shirley was born February 28, 1938, in Gorham, Illinois, the daughter of William and Geneva (Clark) Lindsey. Shirley attended Kewanee High Schools, and Black Hawk College. Shirley married Richard D. Petty on August 2, 1958, in Galva; he preceded her in death on October 25, 2013.Shirley is survived by one son, Dean (Tammy) Petty, Kewanee; five grandchildren, Richard Petty, Kewanee, Shawn (Hilarie) Petty, Salt Lake City, Utah, Scott Petty, Kewanee, Heath Petty, Kentucky, Stephanie Petty, Kewanee; nine great grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Dizel, Kayleigh, Dakota, Kaedynn, Ethan, Sebastian, Kayana; and one sister-in-law, Lucy Lindsey, Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Willard D. Lindsey.Shirley worked for Peterson Health Care as a nurse's aid at Oakwood Nursing Home and Toulon Healthcare; retiring in 2014. She was an avid hunter, especially squirrels. She liked digging up ginseng. Shirley especially loved teaching all her grandchildren how to hunt and play guitar.Cremation was accorded, there will be no services.
