Sylvia Puntarec

Sylvia J. Puntarec, 85, of Kewanee, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center. Sylvia was born May 24, 1938, in Chicago, the daughter of Hayden J. and Nellie M. (Butcher) Kaslo. She married Frank Puntarec on January 26, 1964, in Wood Dale, Illinois; he preceded her in death on March 18, 2012.

Sylvia is survived by one sister, Shirley A. Hunter, Prophetstown; nieces and nephews, Michael (Janice) Hunter, Prophetstown, Linda (Thomas) Farley, Marshalltown, Iowa, Brian (Tracey) Hunter, Trophy Club, Texas; special friend, Ron Barnak, Cicero, Illinois; and her best friend, Evelyn Herrick, Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sylvia was an equipment operator/copy woman in the railroad industry. She worked first for the Thompson Restaurant Chain, in Chicago. She was an outstanding painter.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 21, 2023, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Please leave an online condolence for Sylvia’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
