Obituary

Terry D. Newman, 79, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home. Terry was born February 5, 1944, in Kewanee, the son of Cecil W. and Genevieve L. (Hardt). Terry attended Wethersfield Schools, graduating with the class of 1962. Terry married Frances M. Charlet on March 21, 1965, at State Road Community Church, Kewanee; she survives.

Terry is also survived by his sister, Shirley Dana, Kewanee; brother, Jerry (Pat) Newman, Kewanee; sister-in-law, Jeanne Newman; and nieces and nephews, Rich, Jr. (Holly) Dana, Susan Dana, Steve (Dawn) Newman, Joe (Teryan) Newman, Josh Newman, Andy (Molly) Newman, Kim O’Rourke, and Cheryl Newman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Newman; brother-in-law, Rich Dana, Sr.; two nephews, Jim “Jimmy” Newman, Jim O’Rourke.

Terry was in the National Guard. Terry worked for his father running a bulldozer. He later worked for his uncle running bulldozer and end loader; no one could lay rock as perfectly as he could. Terry enjoyed spending time at home. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Chicago Bears. Terry was an avid collector of cast iron farm machinery, Clydesdales, and Snow Village. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 53 years.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church. Chaplain Kevin Morrison and Pastor Art Blegen will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
