Valeria Sue Smith

Valeria S. Smith, 79, of Chicago, formerly of Kewanee, died Friday, January 7, 2022 at Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL. Valeria was born July 17, 1942, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Frank and Alta (Bevington) Smith. She graduated from Lisle High School with the class of 1960 and obtained a nursing degree from Northern Illinois University.Valeria is survived by one sister, Patricia (Roy) Lyle, Kewanee; four nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Donald Wilt.Valeria worked as a nurse in Chicago with mental and emotional patients. She collected Christmas decorations, older antiques, nativity scenes, Santa Claus ornaments. She enjoyed gardening the flowers in her yard.Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the funeral home. Masks are required and please observe social distancing guidelines. Reverend Brian Giese will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the First Christian Church or the Henry County Humane Society, Kewanee.
