Veto F. Sawickis

Veto F. Sawickis, 91, of Kewanee, died Saturday, November 20, 2021, at his home. Veto was born December 4, 1929, in Rural Kewanee, the son of Victor and Lucy (Marchulitis) Sawickis. He married S. Jean Sawickis in Kewanee; she preceded him in death on November 1, 2020.Veto is survived by two sons, Danny (Dawn) Sawickis, Brooksville, Florida, Gregg (Denise) Sawickis, Kewanee; grandchildren, Cole T. Sawickis, Kewanee, Malleri Sawickis, Galesburg; a great granddaughter, Chloe; sister-in-law, Shirley Sawickis, Kewanee; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; ten siblings, Alphonso, Joseph, John, Edward, Bernard, twin brother, Donald, infant, Victor and sisters, Betty Lamb, Mary Kazmierski, and Emily Entas; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Sawickis.Veto served his country in the US Army between 1953 - 1956 with one year at Enewetak in the Marshall Islands. He farmed north of Kewanee and was employed at Kewanee Boiler Co. He remodeled many homes in the Kewanee area which he enjoyed doing along with his wife.Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 26, 2021, at Wethersfield Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Drane will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to Henry County Senior Center or Henry County Humane Society.
