Virginia "GeeGee" Grabbe

Virginia L. "GeeGee" Grabbe, 83, of Kewanee, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Kewanee Care. GeeGee was born September 8, 1937 in Kewanee, the daughter of Earl and Edith (Bull) Piester. GeeGee attended Kewanee Schools. She married Theodore "Ted" B. Grabbe on August 14, 1955 in Kewanee; he preceded her in death on February 13, 1998,GeeGee is survived by their children, Pamela Grabbe Marsh, Crystal (Jim) Brose, Mark Grabbe, Don Grabbe, Kathy (Richard) Burns, all of Kewanee; daughter-in-law, Chelli Grabbe; two sisters, Betty Mahnesmith, Kewanee, Kathy Lay, Yuma, AZ; 17 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; four sisters; one son, Ted; two grandchildren, Jacob Grabbe, and Joey Wallen.GeeGee worked for Leisure Hills (Royal Oaks) and later at Kewanee Care for 30 years. GeeGee was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was instrumental in starting the Kewanee Care Auxiliary and the tradition of the Hog Day Banner sale. She was known as the Cookie Lady; she would bake cookies with her grandchildren and her porch would be full of cookies for everyone. She was an avid quilter, she made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.Private Memorial services will be Monday, December 21, 2020 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Services will also be live-streamed on Monday, December 21, 2020 on the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home's Facebook page. Donna Boardman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm, Monday, December 21, 2020 at the funeral home. Masks are required and please observe social distancing guidelines.
