William "Bill" Haupt

William “Bill” Haupt, 74, of Kewanee, IL passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Bill passed away peacefully with his beloved Rhonda, and his children Luke and Gina by his side. Bill was born in Bloomington, IL on March 23, 1948. He was adopted by William and Blanche Haupt as an infant.

He is survived by his beloved Rhonda Kemerling, along with his daughter, Gina (Tyler) Gorman of Dunlap, IL and his son, Lucas Haupt of Kewanee, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia Gorman and McKenzie and Logan Haupt, as well as his sister, Theresa (Jeff) Park and nieces and nephews. He was lucky enough to have met his biological siblings and family a few years ago. He was so excited to learn about them and share in stories about his birth mom. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1967. After graduation, he worked a wide range of jobs. His favorite being operating the Lacon Marina and Restaurant. He loved boating and being harbor master. He was later employed by Bock. Inc in Kewanee, where he worked for the past 29 years. 

He will be remembered for being so proud of his kids and grandchildren. He loved to grill and entertain on his patio. Bill loved to joke around with people all the way up until his last day. He just loved to tease his nurses, especially his favorite “friends”, Kelly and Kim. We will be forever grateful for them and all the others for the compassionate and professional care they provided dad in his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm Saturday, March 25, 2022, at the Kewanee VFW. Memorials may be directed to his family or to the Henry County Humane Society, Kewanee. Please leave an online condolence for Bill’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
