Zachrey D. Phelps

Zachrey D. Phelps, 43, of Kewanee, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Arcadia Care of Kewanee. Zac was born April 29, 1982, in Kewanee, the son of Gerald Donavon and Connie Marie (Subject) Phelps. Zac married Brenda Leigh Treichel on June 1, 2007, in Appleton, WI; she survives.

Zac is also survived by his three children, Hailey M. Smith, Galesburg, Kaleb Treichel-Phelps, Kewanee, Korbin Phelps, Kewanee; his father, Gerald Phelps, Kewanee; a sister, Aprille (Erik) Purdy, Kewanee; maternal grandmother, Virginia Durgin, Kanawha, IA; paternal grandmother, Joan Phelps, Kewanee; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and his two beloved cats, Loki and Millie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie; maternal grandfather, John Durgin; paternal grandfather, Donald Phelps, Sr.; aunt, Linda Brown; uncle, Donald Phelps, Jr.; cousin, Ben Brown; his father-in-law, Gary Treichel; and his beloved cat, Jinx.

Zac was a stay-at-home dad, he enjoyed spending his days with his children and taking care of the household. He worked as a self-employed contractor in earlier years. Zac enjoyed fishing at Windmont Park. He excelled at fixing computers and debugging them. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing video games and watching wrestling. Zac especially loved the time he spent with his family.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, September 19, 2025. Father Chris Haake will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to help with the purchase of a headstone for his resting place.
